Geib, that's a strange name. How do you pronounce it? Well, it's German in origin, and it rhymes with tribe.
John Geib has worked in Supply Chain Management since graduating from the University of Georgia in 1988. My experience includes Strategic Sourcing Manager, Materials Manager, and even IT Manager.
As Sourcing Manager,
- improved payment terms for suppliers from 24 to 75 days to greatly improve cash flow,
- generated 10% savings annually on the total spend though cost reduction projects to improve bottom line of my business from 2% to 17% EBIT.
As Materials Manager,
- implemented inventory reduction to greatly improve cash flow
- implemented warehouse location control with RFID to help workers find materials.
As IT Manager,
- implemented an ERP system
- learned the value of spreadsheets to transform bad data into action information.
I was fortunate, early in my career, to work with mentors that preached Servant Leadership and Teamwork. I understand the value of partners to get a project started and completed.
I hold an
MBA
and
BBA. I am a
Certified Lean Master
through Rockwell Automation and
CPIM
through APICS. In my spare time, I have taught Operations Management and the Fundamentals of Management at the Terry College of Business at UGA and currently at the Mike Cottrell College of Business at UNG. I have also taught APICS CPIM certification classes at several local plants.
I am an average tennis player and a bad golfer.
